Anomalous Purchases

A friend of mine recently vented out her opinions regarding their town’s purchase of heavy equipment. She is not alone in her endeavor, but most of the townsfolk have the same sentiments. The purchase was in millions which raised a lot of eyebrows. Had the local government unit opted for equipment leasing, the municipality would have saved a lot for other projects that would greatly benefit the people. Now, she said that the newly purchased heavy equipment are just idly sitting at the town plaza, money wasted according to her. It is really sad to know that some government officials are still inconsiderate and insensitive to the needs of their constituents. I just hope that the same scenario won’t happen here in my city.

Earthquake

A few days ago, an earthquake hit Western Visayas here in the Philippines. Many of our fellow citizens found themselves running for their lives going out of their homes and buildings because the intensity was great. So far, the lists of casualties are minimal but the sad part is most of them were toddlers.

Anyway, some metal buildings weren’t able to escape the earthquake’s intensity because most of them came out with cracks on the walls but still they are fortunate enough compared to other buildings because some really had more than cracks but rubbles on their walls and columns.

Until now, aftershocks are felt all over the affected area. They say a blind fault line has moved causing the earthquake. Oh well, I hope the damage will no longer rise. I am praying for the safety of our country especially disasters have gone through us almost every year.

Kid’s Band

Hubby is a musician, and I’m happy that the kids got his ear for music. Our kids love to sing, and our youngest would even attempt to strum the guitar—of course she has to know how to put her little fingers on the frets, but getting the right timing when strumming at 3 is an achievement enough, right?

I really don’t mind if our kids would play in bands when they grow older. I would be a happy mom cheering for them at the background. Hopefully there would be enough space in our house for their musical instruments—I don’t mind buying zildjian pitch black cymbals for the band to show my support. Of course I know the house would be a lot noisier, but it will not matter for a happy and proud mom like me.

What I Really Wanted in College

When I graduated in high school, my first priority when I was applying for college was B.S. Biology. I was planning to go Med School after. But since money was not readily available for us, I decided to take up Civil Engineering instead at a local college near our home.

Since I was not that dumb (LOL!), I graduated from Civil Engineering and ate MATH for 5 years! It was hard but I made it! But after college, I never took the board exam. I realized that I never wanted to become a Civil Engineer anyway. I wanted to be employed with Obstetrician & Gynecologist Jobs or else start my own clinic. If I didn’t end up as a doctor, I also wanted to become a teacher or a computer programmer.

Oh well, I never ended up any of those I wanted back when I was a bit younger but I ended up as a stay-at-home mom – the most highest paid position in the world!!
